Born in Los Angeles, CA, Shimon Attie lives and works in New York City. He has lived in Israel, and spent some of his formative years in the Middle East. Spitting Image was included in his 2012 solo exhibition People, Land, State at Jack Shainman Gallery. His art explores themes of place, memory, and identity. As he has stated: “I also wanted to explore the mutability of layered identities, communal affiliation, and national aspiration.”
