Servane Mary, Untitled (Property), 2016, inkjet print on copper. 48 x 65 x 9 in., Schwartz Art Collection, Harvard Business School
This work is the first in Servane Mary’s new series Babyliss. Babyliss is a brand of curling irons and the series’ title plays on the idea of mise en plis, which means both having one’s hair styled with a curling iron and giving a wavy shape to something. Here Mary printed a found image of a Hells Angels couple three times onto a copper sheet, and then shaped it into undulating folds.
