Intervention Strategy
Abstract
Develops a framework linking the diagnosis of conflict dynamics to the design of intervention strategies. To intervene effectively, managers must determine whether they are dealing with an acute or chronic conflict. Using this analysis as a foundation, they can define their objectives--dispute resolution versus conflict management--and design their intervention strategies accordingly. Also highlights the diverse intervention roles managers can play (mediator, negotiator, and arbitrator), the associated challenges they confront, and the techniques they can employ.
