Yokohama Corporation, Ltd. (A): The Yokohama Production System
Abstract
Yokohama is in the middle of a supplier chain: it supplies Tokyo Motors and several other automobile manufacturers, and it is in turn supplied by Kamakura Ironworks. This case describes this supplier chain and the interorganizational cost systems that have evolved in the chain. Also shows how firms cope with a customer's target costing system.
