Health Care Management
Description
Samuel S. Chun is studying pricing schemes for various health care services. He focuses on two aspects of the health care delivery problem. First, how do physicians respond to financial incentives and what are the characteristics of a pricing scheme which incents physicians to behave in a way which maximizes patient welfare. Second, how do physicians and hospitals coordinate their services to effectively compete in a market which is marked by increasing levels consolidation and exit. Chun's research is part of a larger, more involved study that focuses on the current excess supply of hospitals and elements of the marketing mix hospitals need to consider to remain competitive in the healthcare marketplace.
