Industry Dynamics Following Competitive Shocks
Description
Robert E. Kennedy and Pankaj Ghemawat are using industrial organization theory to study industrial development in countries that have undergone major competitive shocks. Their goal is to develop a set of hypotheses regarding how industry factors effect change in entry and exit rates; horizontal, vertical, and geographic scope; concentration levels; foreign direct investment; and trade. They expect their hypotheses to be useful as a basis for empirical research in central and eastern Europe, Latin America, and southern Asia.
