Research Summary
Flexibility, Information Technology and Operations
Description
Upton is now examining the role of Information Systems in determining long-term operational effectiveness. As Corporate Information Systems have become increasingly monolithic, the dangers of long-term inflexibility loom large. In manufacturing/operations, the 'install it, and run it' model for systems has long been superceded by approaches emphasising continuous improvement.
This research aims to develop approaches that
enable Information Systems to improve continuously, and to change rapidly as the business changes.
