Antecedents and Consequences of Trust in Interorganizational Relations: An International Comparison
Description
The objective of this research project is to build from the conceptual development described above and test the sources and effects of trust in a different empirical setting. The level of analysis is also interorganizational but narrowed to the level of a specific task, i.e., developing a new component together. While the joint venture project above includes a wide range of 'horizontal' international relationships, this project targets 'vertical' buyer-supplier relationships between firms from the same country, and compares practice across the US, Europe and Japan. The data collection is also dyadic (i.e., data is collected from both sides of the relationship), but involves firms with a history of doing business together (which is not necessarily the case in new joint ventures for market entry). This will provide new insights about the concept and practice of trust at the interorganizational level.
