Markets and Market Design
Description
The topic on which I currently spend the most of my research energy is the study of strategic interaction and reputation systems on eBay and similar markets from an applied, market design perspective. The rise of the Internet allowed a whole new generation of markets to emerge: markets which have not evolved over a long time, but were designed by their operator, establishing a new way to reach customers. Examples are eBay, priceline.com, stubhub.com, amazon.com stores, google.com ad auctions and many others. The rules of these markets determine their efficiency and set the boundaries for strategic behavior of agents. Market design uses theoretical, experimental, empirical and computational methods to explore the effects of rules and details in designed markets, and to propose viable advancements to their managers.
