Overview
Description
My research seeks to understand and improve service integration across specialized professions and organizations. A critical idea driving my research is that work is becoming more dynamic, complex and interconnected, particularly for work that addresses difficult social and technical problems such as chronic disease and climate change. My research explores how organizational structures and processes enable or hinder performance under these complex conditions. Particularly, I examine:
(1) how groups deliver services effectively when group membership crosses professional and organizational boundaries, and (2) how organizational structures and processes shape service integration. To study these questions comprehensively, I leverage micro, meso and macro levels of analysis and often draw on complex health care settings.
