FIVE LESSONS FROM MY FIRST YEAR AT HBS

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I’d get into Harvard, let alone HBS. I didn’t apply to Harvard for undergrad because I was too intimidated, and I almost did the same for HBS. I thought it’d be a waste of time, effort, and money because I’d get rejected anyway. But I am so glad I did apply! I’ve never been in such a diverse, stimulating, and inspiring environment. I’ve learned so much, I’ve been challenged and pushed outside of my comfort zone, and I’ve grown in ways that I could not have imagined. Read More>>>

FROM HBS TO CUTTING-EDGE TECH

Growing up I always wanted to be an engineer, more specifically a roboticist. The biggest technological problem in 2016 was autonomous vehicles and I was fortunate enough to join Ford as a Machine Learning Researcher. I wrote software, generated intellectual property, and talked about autonomous vehicles in international industry conferences. In late 2018, I realized that commercially launching autonomous vehicles is going to be more than an engineering challenge, and would require a lot of business development and strategic planning. HOW I SPENT MY HBS 2+2 DEFERRAL: NIKKI PHILIP

The HBS 2+2 program is a deferred admission process for current students in their final year of study, either in college or a full-time master’s degree program. If you are admitted through 2+2, you work for two to four years in a field of your choice before enrolling in the regular HBS MBA Program. This spring we’re speaking with current MBA students who were admitted through 2+2 to learn what they did during their deferral years. Read More>>>

LEARNING FROM THE ENTREPRENEURS-IN-RESIDENCE AS A HARVARD MS/MBA STUDENT

I have found during my first year at Harvard Business School that there are an infinite number of ways to spend your time learning – each equally compelling but vastly unique and tailored to various learning styles. One of the most powerful ways of learning is through reflection, including through reflections of others. This is why, as a fan of all things entrepreneurship, I took time over the previous semester to speak with and learn from the numerous Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EiRs) at the HBS Rock Center.
