Rachel H Chung:

When I was a kid, adults always asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up. The studious side of me said a doctor. The musical side of me said a pianist. However, over the years I've realized that adults are asking kids the wrong question. The real question is, what kind of change do you want to create in this world?

For me, I want to design a future where everyone feels empowered, especially underrepresented voices so that they can believe in themselves as the leaders of tomorrow. Throughout my career I've seen how feelings of imperfection can cloud potential and derail ambitions in myself and also in others. However, on the flip side, I've also seen how practicing to say, I can, celebrating failure, even taking your first step towards realizing your mission can really unlock confidence and opportunity. So beyond HBS, I want to work in a way which empowers these people so that they can enact the future that they want to create in a way that's courageous and empathetic.
